What a Tournament!

by Aaron Reznik

In the days leading up to Valentine’s Day, from February 10th - 12th, Montclair Pickleball hosted its biggest tournament to date! Over 500 players from over 5 states came to Randolph Pickleball Center in Randolph, NJ for an incredible weekend of competition, camaraderie, and community. The Montclair Pickleball Valentines Classic was a huge success!

The tournament included singles, men’s/women’s doubles, and mixed doubles draws for 2.5 to 4.5+ skill levels, and both 19+ and 50+ age groups! A reminder…pickleball tournaments are for everyone! All levels, all ages, no matter who you are, as long as you can keep score and have a competitive rally.

Plus, as always, the tournament had a bit of prize money on the line to make things more interesting. $2000 in prize money was split among all of the 4.5+ “open” brackets. Those brackets also included over 8 players with pro wins!

The tournament was truly an incredible display of pickleball. Not just the matches played, but the magical friendly and competitive environment that only a pickleball tournament can produce. Battles were won and lost, comebacks were made, friendships were formed, and of course, tons of fun was had.

Be sure to check out Montclair Pickleball’s next tournaments, the New Jersey Spring Open and the Montclair Pickleball Summer Championship!
