Montclair Pickleball Opens New Indoor Courts in the Heart of Montclair

Montclair, NJ – Year-round indoor pickleball is coming to Montclair’s revitalized Lackawanna Plaza by the nation’s leading pickleball academy this December.

Montclair Pickleball is proud to announce the official opening of brand-new indoor pickleball courts in Montclair, offering players of all ages and skill levels the chance to enjoy America’s fastest-growing sport year-round, rain or shine. The facility will open in December 2025.

Located in the revitalized Lackawanna Plaza district, the new facility combines first-class courts with a vibrant atmosphere. Just steps away from local restaurants, bars, and community gathering spots, the courts provide players not only with a place to compete and train, but also with a hub for social connection in the center of town.

Once a grand 1913 railroad terminal and later a Pathmark shopping center, Lackawanna Plaza sat mostly empty after the supermarket closed in 2015. After being redeveloped and beautified by BDP Holdings, it now serves as a vibrant hub with bars and restaurants, new local businesses, and farmers markets, community vendors, and large events every weekend.

“This is a dream,” said Aaron Reznik, Co-Founder of Montclair Pickleball. “We began our academy coming to one public tennis court an hour early to set up 4 courts made of rubber lines and build nets from scratch. To see things evolve intro three locations including our beautiful 8-court facility in Fair Lawn, and now an indoor facility in the very town we started things, the town I still live in, I can only thank god, our incredible team, and the community of players and families that have supported us for so long ever since we started First Serve Tennis as a socially-distanced outdoor kids summer camp during the summer of 2020 when our internships were canceled due to covid. Now, we can bring something truly special to the town of Montclair, and the entire Essex County pickleball community. Pickleball is truly a unicorn sport and we’re excited to be a part of building its future, with Montclair Pickleball as well as our other businesses like The Pickleball Clinic and Paddle Gold.

The facility is designed to meet the needs of both recreational and competitive players. With coaching programs, clinics, open play, and special events on the schedule, Montclair Pickleball is positioning itself as the go-to destination for pickleball enthusiasts in Essex County and beyond.

Montclair Pickleball specializes in programming for all levels from brand new beginner to advanced (and even players looking to play pro such as their Elite Junior Academy where they train some of the top juniors in the country include two homeschooled 10-year-olds).
